Honeymoon

01 Jun, 2009

Whatever your plans for your honeymoon, you will probably have to organize something for the first night. You will need a quiet, romantic place to unwind and relax after the high stress levels and activities of the day. If you are traveling overseas or boarding a plane, make your first night’s accommodation somewhere near the airport.

Start planning your honeymoon destination well in advance. People differ as to what their idea of an ideal holiday destination is. Bride and groom need to either be in agreement, or to at least have a mutually acceptable compromise.

As soon as the destination is agreed upon, get as much information about the area as possible: Sights, activities, types of hotel accommodation.

Budget will play a key role in choosing a honeymoon destination, or at least on how you may be able to use that budget at your chosen destination. Perhaps a shorter stay, or a cheaper hotel, maybe all that is required to make your dream honeymoon a reality. If you are using a travel agent ask her to look out for specials, and package deals. Make sure you are aware of what service fees your travel agent will charge you for quotes and bookings. Ask about Wedding Packages.

Package holidays are usual a good deal as they usually cover transport, airport transfers, accommodation, guided tours, and some meal. This takes much of the stress of a trip away, leaving you both to simply enjoy the experience. Check out your travel deal thoroughly. Make sure you are aware of what has been paid for already, and what you will need to pay for on the tour. Also check on what the weather is expected to do in your chosen destination during the time you plan to be there.

Cost saving factors includes traveling off-peak season. This will affect everything from transport costs to accommodation to meals.

If you are lucky enough to be going overseas, you will need your passport in order, and you will probably need visas. The earlier you start with this the better. Traveler’s Cheques are still the safest way to carry cash. Make sure you have a copy of the cheque numbers kept safely somewhere separate from the cheques themselves. Check your credit limit before you leave. Travel Insurance is a must.
